Brittany reading her paper while sitting with her dad...After finishing the cleaning and getting food ready for our meal, we headed to church for Brittany's Profession of Faith Service. We took our family pictures...the kids to a group picture...then, the service began. Mom, Tommie (Brittany's godmother), all of Tommie's kids, Jennifer, Philip, Abby, and Samuel also came. After the songs and welcome and the Apostle's Creed, the storm decided to knock out the lights...we were without power at the church. After a quick break, it was decided that each "student" would go to a table out in the area with more windows with light coming in...they would then read their paper to their family and friends. Wow, could this have made Brittany any happier. She was still way quiet reading it that we could hardly hear her, but she managed through. We then had a prayer by the pastor and communion. There was cake at the church as well. Back at home, we finished the brisket and sausage...cooked up the beans and mac and cheese for the kids...baked some bread and sat everything else out--macaroni salad, veggie tray and some fruit. There was some Sweet Red wine and beer too. Oh, and I had made a couple of cakes...my favorite of butter yellow with chocolate frosting and chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. Bob, Carolina, Carolina's mother and sister, along with our niece Sophia came...it was a lot of fun...Sophia is getting soooo big and being more alert and getting so strong and smart! Can't wait to go see her next weekend!
