Brittany waiting at the Opening Flag Ceremony...actually caught her happy after the cold night and morning...
Austin on a hike at Stephen F Austin State Park...Friday night was spent at Stephen F. Austin State Park with the Cub Scout Pack...there was set-up time, dinner on our own (we made yummy cheesesteak burritos)...s'mores by the campfire...helping late comers get their tents set up...sleeping in the tent as it gets COLD and wakes us up cold. Saturday morning Brittany and I rushed to a welcome hot shower but it was still pretty cold outside. Things did warm up, and the day was spent with an opening flag raising, by our den...interpretive guide hike...lunch (sandwiches and chips and cookies and fruit)...ultimate frisbee...museum and store and statues/monument...service project stick clean-up...scavenger hunt...flag lowering ceremony...dinner (hamburgers and hot dogs)...Nick and I making dutch oven dump cakes for all...campfire, which I mostly missed due to one cake taking to long...more campfire back at our site, with our den...sleeping a little better, with a little less cold, but so much more tired. Sunday, with Brittany so ready to go home and she was actually mad about not going to our own church...we had a good breakfast...Nick, as cubmaster, met with the other leaders over coffee and cinnammon rolls...Scout's Own service...break camp! We got everything cleaned up and headed home--to hit the SHOWER!
