Race Day!

Austin's car is the one in the middle--the black one--it won this "heat".
Today was the Pack 393 Pinewood Derby day. Austin's Den 3 opened it up with a flag ceremony. When we got there to check-in the cars, Nick found that his car and Austin's car were a bit over the weight limit of 5 oz. So, he had to drill holes and remove some of the iron he had added for weight. (He was being a little grumpy and stressed--kinda getting on my nerves...) Anyhow, the Cubs had their cars checked in, and they raced in each of the three lanes...twice. There were a lot of "heats" and it could get kinda hard for some of the boys and siblings to stay interested, but it was fun and there was food to keep them going. In the end, Austin didn't place in the Tigers, but one of the boys in his Den won first for Tigers and 2nd for all Cubs overall. In fact, this boy's brother is a Webelo and won first overall for all the Cubs. Yeah, the younger sister placed in the siblings/adults race...This dad is sooooo into this thing. He said he has his own test track--he hasn't hardly been sleeping working on these cars! So people are so into these things!

Well, after all that fun, and the same old going to the gym, watching TV and such, I sit here having lesson plans to do. I also feel things are very cluttered around here and messy! But, I can get to it tomorrow.
